Alaska Trails and the coalition of partners have worked on securing funding for the Alaska Long Trail through the state capital budget since 2021. While only the Anchorage-area projects have been funded so far, we continue to seek state funding for trail projects along the length of the trail from Seward to Fairbanks.
3 projects were funded for work in Chugach State Park. Alaska Trails is the recipient for all three projects. Total of $1.434M.
7 projects were funded in the Anchorage area. Recipients were Chugach State Park, Muni of Anchorage (Girdwood Parks and Rec), and Anchorage Park Foundation. Total of $4.22M.
We are grateful to the state legislature and Governor Dunleavy for supporting these projects and recognizing the value of the Alaska Long Trail project for the Alaskan economy and communities.
