
State Budget Funding for the Alaska Long Trail
Alaska Trails and the coalition of partners have worked on securing funding for the Alaska Long Trail through the state capital budget since 2021.
While primarily Anchorage-area projects have received State funding, we continue to seek State funding for trail projects along the length of the trail from Seward to Fairbanks.
Federal Year 2027
State Capital Budget

Denali Borough: $272,910 was appropriated for pedestrian bridges and trails near Denali National Park and the Nenana Trail systems, and $4,373,816 for a separated path from Healy to Antler Ridge.

Matanuska-Susitna Borough: $660,000 was appropriated for separated pathways leading from Palmer to Hatcher Pass.

State Capital Budget

Denali Park: $272,910 for a Pedestrian Bridge and $181,940 for the Healy to Antler Ridge Trail Separated Path.

Mirror Lake: Glenn Highway Trail Connection at $545,840.

Chugach State Park: Total of $1.1M for four projects in the State Park and the Anchorage Municipality.

Chugach State Park: Total of $1.434M for three projects for which Alaska Trails was the recipient of all three projects.

Anchorage: Total of $4.22M for seven projects in the Anchorage area. Recipients were Chugach State Park, the Municipality of Anchorage (Girdwood Parks and Rec), and Anchorage Park Foundation.
