Silver Fern & Gasline Intersection Trail Brushing
Come help Alaska Trails brush this popular trail so that trail users can keep enjoying a safe and fun trail.

About the event
We will begin brushing from the trailhead. Easy difficulty for hiking. Slight incline once the project shifts to the pass trail. Complete the brushing from the parking lot to powerline pass trail before moving on. There may be some additional trail tread work for a small number of volunteers.
SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY:
Wednesday July 20th
TIME – 6pm – 9pm
Meet at Upper Huffman by 5:45pm, review safety documents and project overview, gather tools for the trail. Spend the entire event on the trail and return to the trailhead by 9pm.
WHAT IT TAKES:
Work will be strenuous at times and volunteers must come prepared with food and water for the day. Volunteers MUST be prepared with appropriate attire (including sturdy boots, work gloves, eye protection) and safety gear.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Long Pants (you may stain them with dirt)
Long Sleeves (suggested)
Sturdy Work Boots (NOT sneakers)
WHAT TO BRING:
Water bottles for a whole day on the trail (recommend 1 gallon)
o Work Gloves
o Rain Gear, Warm layers, bug spray, sunscreen
o Eye Protection (sunglasses)
o Bear spray
o Backpack (lunch, food, water for the day)
Alaska Trails will provide hand tools:
- Loppers, folding hand saws, pruning shears, PPE (hardhats, eye pro, gloves)
WHAT NOT TO BRING:
Firearms (not a substitute for bear spray at volunteer events)
DIRECTIONS/ADDRESS/NAME OF TRAILHEAD:
Volunteers will meet at Upper Huffman Trailhead at 5:45. After introductions, discussing the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and gathering tools, we will begin hiking from the trailhead to the intersection of Silver Fern and Gasline trails.
