Upper O'Malley Trailhead

The goal of this project is to brush the Powerline Pass Trail in Chugach State Park using handsaws and loppers to clear alders and other shrubs from the trail. Hiking is easy to moderate with no more than 2.5 miles total hiked for the day.

About the event

Volunteers will meet at Upper O'Malley Trailhead at 9:00am and return to the trailhead at 3:00pm. Volunteers will be brushing Powerline Pass Trail using handsaws and loppers. Any volunteers without an Alaska State Parks annual parking pass will be provided a pass so they do not have to pay for parking while volunteering.


What to bring: Rain gear, sturdy work/hiking boots, snacks, water, sunscreen, long work pants, and work gloves and safety glasses if you have them (if you don't have gloves/safety glasses they will be provided for the day). 


What NOT to bring: Alcohol, drugs, children, pets, and firearms.


Notes: Hiking will begin at Upper O'Malley Trailhead, and at the most will involve 2.5 miles of hiking on an easy grade. No experience is necessary, but volunteers should have a minimum ability to hike and work for 6 hours during potentially inclement conditions. This event is open to volunteers…
