This project involves lots of trail touch-up and some structure work. The trail needs better drainage options and tread work, especially around the switchbacks.

About the event
The day will begin at the Pioneer Peak trailhead on E Knik River Rd. From the parking lot to the end of the worksite, the hike is approximately 1 mile. The work begins at the trailhead and continues for about a mile. Volunteers should be able to hike with tools on steep, uneven terrain and have a good attitude.

What to bring: Rain gear, sturdy work/hiking boots, snacks, water, sunscreen, long work pants, and work gloves and safety glasses if you have them (if you don't have gloves/safety glasses they will be provided for the day).
What NOT to bring: Alcohol, drugs, children, pets, and firearms.
Notes: This event is open to volunteers age 18 and up. Conditions could well be rainy and mud will likely be present on the trail. No experience is necessary, but volunteers should have a minimum ability to hike and work for 6 hours during potentially inclement conditions.
