About the event
Volunteers will meet at Bird Valley trailhead off Konikson Road in Chugach State Park. Volunteers will hike the Penguin Peak trail, brushing using hand saws and loppers.
What to bring: Rain gear, sturdy work/hiking boots, snacks, water, sunscreen, long work pants, and work gloves and safety glasses if you have them (if you don't have gloves/safety glasses they will be provided for the day).
What NOT to bring: Alcohol, drugs, children, pets, and firearms.
Notes: Hiking will be moderate to hard and no more than 4-5 miles for the day. No experience is necessary, but volunteers should have a minimum ability to hike and work for 6 hours during potentially inclement conditions and on uneven terrain with significant elevation gain. This event is open to volunteers age 12 and up. Volunteers under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian present.
