Prospect Heights Trailhead

Near Point Trail via Wolverine Bowl Trail

This project involves brushing and some tread/drainage work. The trail needs to be brushed back to the trail standard in many spots and many sections of trail are in need of better drainage options and tread work, though the main focus of the event is brushing.

About the event

The day will begin at the Prospect Heights trailhead in Chugach State Park. Volunteers will hike from the trailhead to the worksite and begin brushing work just shy of 2 miles into the hike. It is steep, uneven, and sometimes muddy terrain.

From the parking lot to the end of the worksite, the hike is approximately 3 miles.

This event is sponsored by Chugach Park Fund.

What to bring: Rain gear, sturdy work/hiking boots, snacks, water, sunscreen, long work pants, and work gloves and safety glasses if you have them (if you don't have gloves/safety glasses they will be provided for the day).

What NOT to bring: Alcohol, drugs, children, pets, and firearms.

Notes: This event is open to volunteers age 18 and up. Conditions could well be rainy and mud will likely be present on the trail. No experience is necessary, but volunteers should have a minimum ability to hike and work for 6-7 hours during potentially inclement conditions.
