About the event

The day will begin at the South Fork Valley trailhead.  Volunteers will hike from the trailhead to the worksite and begin brushing work roughly 2.5 miles into the hike. Volunteers will brush the trail corridor to the trail standard and drag the brush cut end away from the trail.

From the parking lot to the end of the worksite, the hike is approximately 5 miles, so volunteers could hike up to 10 miles. It is steep, uneven, and sometimes muddy terrain. The hike begins at the South Fork Valley Trailhead.

This event is sponsored by Chugach Park Fund.

What to bring: Rain gear, sturdy work/hiking boots, snacks, water, sunscreen, long work pants, and work gloves and safety glasses if you have them (if you don't have gloves/safety glasses they will be provided for the day).

What NOT to bring: Alcohol, drugs, children, pets, and firearms.

Notes: This event is open to volunteers age 18 and up. Conditions could well be rainy and mud will likely be present on the trail. No experience is necessary, but volunteers should have a minimum ability to hike and work for 7-8 hours during potentially inclement conditions.
